The first 7 hours of a Dollar Collapse (VIDEO)

The Day the Dollar Died (from Inflation.us)

What happens when suddenly the dollar becomes worthless?

One day you wake up and find out that the stock market is crashing, banks are closing and you can't use your ATM.

You go to the gas station and there are no prices on the sign. In fact, many places have no gas at all. And the few stations that have gas are essentially getting whatever price someone is willing to pay. You turn on the TV and go on the internet and find out that the world has changed.

This great video comes from Inflation.us. It shows what may happen in the event of a dollar collapse.

Imagine that China, Saudi Arabia and Europe no longer have confidence in the dollar. Sure, you don't have that many dollars in your bank account. But all of a sudden, people are dumping dollars for real items. That means people will exchange a hundred dollar bill for toilet paper.

That means the banks have to close to figure everything out. Now, if you have a safety deposit box at the bank, you may not have access to it. That may not be too bad if your box has paperwork, titles or anything made on paper.

This is not good news if you store gold or silver coins in your safety deposit box. Many bank holidays are used to "Re-set" the currency and that can mean your gold and silver may be taken from you and in return, you get a new paper currency.

Of course, this is a worst-case look at the future. But if the last ten years have taught you anything is that you have to be prepared for the worst.

How do you prepare?

1). First of, study the financial news. Stay on top of it. The fact is, all of the economies of the world are tied together. A housing collapse in Spain can directly affect your pocketbook. A war in Korea can cause a domino effect collapse in the United States.

2). Consider buying junk silver coins. What is junk silver? Basically junk silver are dime and quarters minted by the United States decades ago. The value of the coins are directly tied to the amount of silver inside of them. The quarters and dimes can have 90% silver or 30% silver. The coins come in bags that can cost anywhere from $500 to thousands of dollars. In the very worst case scenario, you will be able to buy a tank of gas with one or two of those 90% silver dimes.

3). Don't rely on the Washington to help you. You have to look to further than Katrina to learn that in the case of a major disaster, you are on your own. Don't wait for the FEMA trucks or the National Guard to bring you water, food and shelter. There will simply be too many people and not enough items. And when that happens, riots, curfews and martial law takes place. That's exactly what happened in New Orleans. When things look like they are about to get bad, have a plan and, most importantly, act.

This is an intriguing hub even if it is a bit dooms dayish. I know my family and I are not ready for such a collapse. It is good to make people aware of this possibility. The important thing is not to panic, but to make contingency plans just in case.

The scenario is very feasible, and similar to Weimar Germany. I am not sure how much control the government will have over its troops, police, and citizens, with no money to pay them. The only option is to print currency that is usable only in the U.S., or else have the entire world go to a one-world currency. This would usher in the one-world government or "New World Order" GHW Bush talked about. In any case, it portends the doom of democracies, especially our own, a fact which has already taken place thanks to Patriot Acts 1 & 2, and Presidential Orders. I think it would be safe to say that America as we once knew it no longer exists, no matter how much the media wants to present a picture of "normalcy" to the jaded public.

It will be disastrous not only to USA but also to the entire world economy. Hope it will not happen in my lifetime.
